Kuala Lumpur – Cameron Highlands – Penang - Langkawi
JUNE 12 – 27, 2007

Day 15 June 26, 2007 (Tuesday) Langkawi – Kuala Lumpur

We leave this beautiful area to fly back to KL and our last night at the
Putrajaya Shangri-La. Now I had stayed there before on a previous trip and was thrilled to be coming back. This hotel is class and the location is perfect… we enjoyed lunch as soon as we got there. After lunch we are off to the Putrajaya Botanical Gardens (Taman Botani Putrajaya) This garden is not that old but I could not believe all the improvements to it since I had been there last. It was designed as a national sanctuary for Malaysian plant taxonomy as well as a center for education and research. Over 90 countries are represented here.

We then got treated to a boat cruise on Lake Putrajaya. The wooden gondola like boats we were in are actual replicas of traditional fishing boats used in the east coast of Malaysia. They were designed to be used in the high seas so they certainly had no problem carrying us along on this calm and placid lake. This is a beautiful way to see the lake and the buildings around the lake, including the magical Putra Mosque – this mosque has a 116 meter minaret and is able to accommodate 15,000 devotees at one time!

After dinner, it was time to make sure we could still fit everything into our suitcase…a very hard thing to do I might add!

Day 16 June 27, 2007 (Wednesday) Kuala Lumpur - Homebound

After breakfast we checked out and headed to KL International Airport, where in a short while, we would be heading back to Canada with so many wonderful memories of this trip. Again, a very special thank you to Sandra Ngoh-Fonseka, Tourism Malaysia Canada and Eva Air for giving us this opportunity. We have all come back with endless stories to tell and articles to write and an urge to return! Selamat tinggal until we meet again…
