Day at Sea
Our day at sea … leisurely breakfast, then a get together with the other
English speaking guests on the ship – don’t forget that this cruise is
mainly Spanish guests but as the years have gone by, they are finding that
more and more English speaking people are taking this cruise, coming in from
North America. They are many expats living in Panama and Panama is close to
a lot of other countries … this makes it very easy to get to the Colon Port
to take this cruise from Tocumen Airport.
Then a nap and lunch in our room … it was a nice treat to have it in the
quietness of our room today…beef carpaccio and Calamari salad followed by a
Turkish style chicken wrap and royal beef burger. Some catch up work and
rest….
Tonight it is formal night… dressed up and ready to eat! As we sat at our
table for two I couldn’t be more surprised to see how many people were
dressed up and yet quite a few were in casual attire. It was a special
evening and it always amazes me that people cannot find something to wear
that is dressy. They know we have two formal evenings and yet you see blue
jeans….something gets lost in the translation perhaps.
Our meals were delicious, starters were lobster bisque soup and oxtail
broth, followed by shrimp ravioli with a lovely shrimp sauce over the top of
the ravioli that sat on a bed of spinach for me. Tom has filet of beef that
was so tender you could cut it with a fork and for desert I have a chocolate
soufflé with sauce and Tom had a refreshing fresh berry and cream pudding.
We then left to walk back to the Centrum, or the central area of the ship
where the Captain was greeting everyone for the Welcome reception. A glass
of champagne for everyone and much music and dancing and then off to our
room to get ready for tomorrow as I was off to see some of Bonaire and Tom
would be scuba diving today, in what we hear is some of the most beautiful
waters in the world for that.
