Chelsea 2012

Thu 24 May 12 Our Full Day at Chelsea!

Today was our day at Chelsea. We arrived just as the gates opened. This is vital if you want to see as much as you can before the hordes of busses arrive. Since I had been on press day there was not much left that I wanted to see but of course you discover much more always!!

Off to the Botanist in Sloan Square for some Eggs Royale – like eggs benedict but with smoked salmon – delicious!! And that café latte just hit the spot. I always recommend this as a place to go for a great afternoon tea as well and so reasonably priced. Then a walk around the square to see what they have done for Chelsea week. From there we walked to Harrods to see the window displays of the Crown that companies had done up for the Jubilee Celebrations…some pretty outstanding crowns for sure. Tired so a stop at the Royal Albert Hall for a cup of tea and a bit of reading the newspaper before we headed back to the hotel to get ready for a very special Afternoon Tea at the Lanesborough Hotel. The tea we had wasn’t even out to the public yet so it was very special…so special that I decided to have a glass of champagne with it. That comes with strawberries and cream, then you start your tea. Excellent and the ambiance was wonderful as well. From this we then walked to Saint Martin in the Fields for listen to Baroque music. We had a box seat high up where I always like to sit. You can then watch them or just turn your head up to the ceiling and listen with no distractions. A lovely day indeed!
