I am trying to force hyacinths for indoor color in March. The bulbs are potted in 6" pots, watered, then put into a garage detached from my house. They are then placed in a styrofoam picnic container and covered. The problem is they are starting to freeze. How can I insulate the containor so the bulbs stay above freezing but not more that 50 degrees? What are your suggestions. Thank you

What are the minimum temperatures that hyacinth bulbs can be subjected to and still survive?
