I hope that someone out there can help us out. Hubby wrapped the trunk of the Mayday tree (with cardboard) in late fall to prevent sunscald. Unfortunately, he might have wrapped it too tight and when I unwrapped it today (a little late, I know) I was dismayed to find some "mold" on the bottom of the tree - from the base of the tree up about 6 inches. It was a white mold, cottony in texture and fairly dry. I gently scrapped it off the tree with a plant pot scrubber. The trunk is solid and hard with no soft spots. Does anyone know what that "mold" is and how should I treat it now? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
