I have a large patch of pampas grass that I would like to get rid of. It is too tough to dig out. Do you think if I cut off the green shoots that the roots will dry up enough that they might burn. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you

I dug out a clump of pampas grass when I lived on Vancouver Island (zone 8b) and that was the only way to get rid of it. We dug about 12" all around the plant and down to well below the root area, then replaced the soil. Even then, a couple of years later we noticed a couple of pampas grass spears emerging ... more digging. This is one determined plant.

Thanks for the feedback I was afraid that was what would have to happen. Better start lifting weights, so I will be up to the job. Thanks again

When removing any large grasses you need to remove heads (blooms) before they come out. Also, if you put dew worms, in with soil, it will mulch any root that is left.Good luck
