My brother plans on planting some siberian larch to see if they can take the climate and soil conditions of the chilcotin area. The climate is quite harsh with a sandy dry soil and elevations close to 3500ft. Lots of knick-knick, juniper bushes, swamp spruce and poplar exist in this area. This is an experiment to find some other hardy tree that can replace the pine trees on our property that are all dead because of the pine beetle. Any advice would be delightful.
