Hi there,

I am new here! I recently bought a house and would like to try my hand at growing balckcurrants.

Can anyone give me tips that might help me be successful?

Thanks!

I don't have any tips for you, but some encouragement: I have grown a blackcurrant in peat in a big container for the past two years now and it is doing just fine. No special care. Just plenty of water, 20-20-20 fertilizer and a sunny/partly shady location (sun in the morning, followed by dappled-ish shade). Last year I got 2 cups of berries off it - would've got much more than that but I lost a bunch to munching currant worms.

I live in Vernon BC but looks like we're about the same zone so I would think you'll have similar results.

Thanks Shari! I'm excited to try!
