Can anyone ID this rosa? Growing in the wild, on PEI (micro zone 5b), on the bank of a stream, it is a climbing rose, single-petalled, colored as an Alberta rose.Blooms of avg. size.Branches are very long and slender, even the oldest stems are no bigger around than your little finger, while the new growth is about 1/8" dia. There are fine thorns on the old growth only. The hips are very oblong,scarlet-red, and smaller than a coriander pod in dia. I saved some seeds and plan to start them today. Any info would be appreciated. To view this rose, follow the trail behind Green Gables, Cavendish, PEI, and look for rosa when you cross the small walking bridge, over the brook.
