This is my first year at growing watermelons and cantelopes.. I have lots of blossoms and 2-3 dime size fruit starting to grow. What is the normal grow time before being able to pick them??

Cliff: we are just outside Ottawa, growing Earlisweet variety melon, a type of cantelope. Ours are about the size of a grapefruit right now. Anyone else? They need the very sunniest and warmest spot in your garden and lots of moisture.

Hi Cliff, I don't grow watermelon so have no advice there, but I do grow canteloupe and when they are ripe, they just fall off the vine when lifted or slightly twisted.. then you know they are ready to eat!! Are they the muskmelons?? So GOOD!!! Mine only get to be the size of baseballs, not like the big ones in the store, but they are so sweet!!!
