I noticed some of the leave on Joe have large whitish blotches on them. I broke off some of the leaves, tore them apart through the blotch and discovered little, (about 1/8")pale yellow worm-like things living right inside the leaves. I wasn't able to pinpoint the creatures in my books, can anyone give me an idea what they are and how to control them?

Bonnie, I get these too. I think they are a nasty kind of leaf miner and wouldn't expect any kind of sprays would be able to control them as you actually have to hit the bug with them. I've been controlling it by simply squishing the worms inside the leaves with my fingers. As long as you don't have too many plants, that should work.

I saw that the growing tips of my Joe Pye Weed were sort of bunched up together, and when I probed around with my fingers, found one small worm per plant sort of making "cocoons". I removed them by hand and the plant went on to bloom beautifully.
