Something is eating my dahlia blossoms, just the pretty blooms,,,not the leaf.He or it has taken the whole bloom and shredded half and chews on others, the garden is locked,, no vandals,,, who is to blame.??.I do have wasp chews on a few other plants and a noisy magpie who visits often,,, I will harm neither of them but would like to know, thanks for any help... Hi! Badger - could it be.... earwigs? A long dark bug about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch long, with a pincer at the tail end. They are BAD! Usually, these guys are out chewing at night, hide in a safe spot between leaves, etc. during the day. A hot, dry spell seems to mean less earwigs, while a more moist, damp time spells more earwigs.

Try going out after it is dark and checking your dahlias with a flashlight. Good luck!
