Hi! We have broccoli, and have been finding green caterpillars (which the same green as the leaves) on them. Today we discovered what we think were eggs in our cauliflower! The caterpillars got into the head of the broccoli, we didn't find half of them until after we'd steamed it!! Please help! I need to know what they are & how to get rid of them (safely, so we can still eat the broccoli!). Thank you!!

Sonja. BTK Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaky. You can eat your vedgies the day after spraying. This is a contact spray so when the caterpilars are in the heads of the broccoli it does not work unless you can see them and hit them with the spray.

Soapy water should work well, too. I prefer just to pick them off and squish 'em. Once you get rid of them you might want to try a floating row cover over the plants. That'll keep the parent Cabbage butterflies from laying their eggs.
