My zone is 5b,can anyone tell me what vegetables seeds I can plant now besides Spinach? Thanks

Hi Joanna!

While I'm not an expert, I can tell you that there are a few other things I've got planted now, like peas, lettuce and radishes. Onions should be in by now too, and I don't think its too early for carrots.

We've had an amazing April, so I've got pumpkins sprouting and I took the chance of putting out tomatoes (Salt Spring Heirloom) and at least they're not going yellow! I'm hoping to mulch to conserve water (think it will be another very dry summer here), so I'm wondering what people use in vegetable gardens. Is straw okay? We produce hay, but I've heard that it is too seedy.
