I hear that coffee grounds are good for fertilizing. What proportion should they be used with soil for potted plants?

I use all my old coffee grounds all around my plants, I don't do anything to them just take them out of the filter paper and drop them all around my hostas, tomatoes (not yet) and anything elese that looks like it could use the help. In the fall I mulch the grounds into the ground and it has never hurt anything yet. The ones that I don;t have a use for right away I put into the compost bin. They break down easily and help with drainage in the composter. Good Luck
