Yes you can plant it outside and yes it may bloom next year. Easter lilies are much tougher than we previously gave them credit. Your zone (8a) seams to indicate you may be on one of the coasts so make sure you pick a well drained full sun area, if you already have asiatic and oriental lilies the same location is fine for your easter lily. Be sure to cut off the flower stock, going to seed is just a waste of energy when you want it to root in. A plant start type fertilizer high in phosphorus and possibly with a root hormone will encourage it to settle in faster. Good Luck! :-) PatA
