I'm smitten and obsessing about a tree and can't seem to locate a specimen anywhere. I'm looking for an elm...ulmus glabra camperdownii...any suppliers out there? gwen/vanc island

Gwen Try contacting Art Drysdale up in Parksville. He had a picture of one in one of his articles. If you are a good propagator you might be able to get cuttings from the old ones in the Ross Bay cemetery or Bastion Square. I think they only take on Scotch elm. We discussed this odd ball elsewhere and recall nursery stock is available south of the border(Oregon) or from Hortico (Mail order) here in the Ontario, if you can’t find it near home at some of your wonderful nurseries. Be aware that the height of the graft determines the height of the mature tree and that young stock is quite unattractive for several years . . . a plant delight for only the truly obsessed . . . and their great grandchildren. :~).
