Subject: hardy shrub roses for hedge zone 2b

I am looking for a nice hardy shrub rose to use as a privacy hedge - not too wide but tallish. Color doesn't matter too much. Also wondering when and how far apart to plant (will be in place of backyard fence). Thanks for the help! Colleen

Hi Colleen, This year I am planting roses for the first time ever so I lack hands on experience. However this past year I have read everything I could find on hardy roses. The best book I found is Lois Hole's Rose Favorites. Some of her recomendations For hedges are: Stanwell Perpetual (white), Jens Munk (pink), Hansa (mauve), F.J. Grootendorst (red).
