1) The pheasants are taking dust baths among the glads. 2) The weeds are wilting. 3) You get excited when you spy a new zucchini.

Any more??

You wake up and you are thrilled it is cloudy !

But we got rain yesterday, not nearly enough but the grass was gulping it greedily.

I'd welcome slugs if it meant we'd get rain! (I have not seen a single slug all summer) ... and there are massive thunderstorms to the north of us, and nary a drop here. Two years ago when we had a drought here in eastern Ontario, I found a (live) groundhog up against the house underneath our ourside tap. We forget how it must feel to wildlife! I left him a bowl of water and he must have revived, for he wasn't there the next day.

We had 2 showers lately. It was so dry this summer that plantain turned black then shriveled up and died.
