Has anyone had success with RATIBA COLMNIFERA (Mexican Hat) in a Zone 5-6? I saw a picture in a Monrovia catalogue & thought it looked pretty interesting but not sure about adaptability. Any idea where you'd find the plant? Thanks

Another name for the plant is Prairie Coneflower. It is native from Southern Canada to Mexico.

Look for it in places that sell native material

-missing a syllable Ratibida columnifera -a prairie native. Its striking flowers make it a good candidate for the border. -hardy to zone 3 -seed available from Gardens North

I just rec'd order for Ratiba Columnifera aka Mexican Hat from Gurney's Seed & Nursery. It's supposed to be a red dwarf drought and heat tolerant perennial that blooms from July to September. Will have to wait to determine how well it does after this coming winter.
