Schuylkill Explorations August 4, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm

Allen Crawford, also known as Lord Whimsy, presents the historical, aesthetic, and ecological particulars, musings, and happenstances of The Hidden River Expedition, the three-day kayak trip he made last year through the urban waterways of Philadelphia. Our theme in the Green Room for the month of August is "The River." Other activities in the Green Room that day will include a garden tour to the river and a hands-on water quality testing demonstration.

To RSVP for this program, please email lgale@bartramsgarden.org or call 215-729-5281 ext. 110.

Free with Day Pass admission. Free for members! This presentation will take place in the Coach House at Bartram's Garden.

Riverfront Cleanup with United By Blue

August 7, 5:00 to 7:30 pm

Shake up your work week with a United By Blue cleanup at Bartram's Garden. Finish your day by giving back! UBB cleanups take place the first Tuesday of the month and help make our waterways cleaner.

During this month's cleanup, community members will have an opportunity to meet representatives from fellow Philadelphia B Corporations. B Corporations are a new kind of company which uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.

Plus, volunteers get more than just satisfaction for a job well done: each cleanup comes with a free cookout and giveaways! Volunteers who attend three UBB Bartram's Garden cleanups this summer qualify for a free Bartram's Garden membership .

Second Saturdays Volunteer Project

August 11, 9 am to noon

Dig in on the Second Saturday of every month and volunteer at Bartram's Garden! During this month's project, volunteers will assist Nursery Manager, Grant Folin, in potting up "baby" plants for the Bartram nursery. Get your hands dirty while learning more about the delicate art of raising plants. Green thumbs not required!

That Very Curious Shrub Next Monthly Curator's Tour: August 11, 1:15 to 2:45 pm
