October 4, 2009

On Saturday, Oct. 10th and Monday, Oct. 12th, Peel Regional Police and firefighters from Brampton Fire and Emergency Services will be joining forces to donate their time and good looks to Fashion for Food - a charity fashion show at the International Home Show. Proceeds from the event will benefit Breakfast for Kids Student Nutrition Programs in Peel. The Heart Lake Rotary Club will also be on hand to sell and promote Brampton Firefighter Calendars.

Fashion for Food shows run at 1pm and 4 pm on Saturday, October 10th and on Monday, October 12th. International Home Show attendees are reminded to bring along a non-perishable food item or cash donation when visiting the show on those days. In exchange for donations, attendees reserve a seat to watch Peel’s finest model hot tropical fashions from Tommy Bahama.

Colour commentary at Fashion for Food will be supplied on Saturday by TV talk show host Christine Diakos of Slice Network’s Three Takes, and on Monday by CITY TV Entertainment Specialist, Liz West. Contributions from those attending Fashion for Food will go toward starting-up new Breakfast for Kids programs and delivery equipment.

Breakfast for Kids currently serves over 7,500 students daily in the Peel District and Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Boards. It is estimated 1 in 10 students arrive at school each day without breakfast, lunch or snacks to sustain them. With over 130 Breakfast for Kids locations in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga, the goal is to ensure that every school in Peel Region has access to the program.

Through Fashion for Food, the International Home Show, Peel Region Police, Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, and show visitors are joining together as a community to encourage happier and healthier children.
