Proven Winners' Surfinia Lime has been selected as one of Horticulture Magazine's "Best and Brightest for 2001" in its January/February 2001 issue. The "Best and Brightest" special insert features an elite group of 21 varieties chosen for recognition in the annual and tender perennial category. "Each year we trial hundreds of varieties and select only those that are easy to grow and that will perform well for gardeners throughout the country," says John Gaydos, spokesperson for Proven Winners. "We knew Surfinia Lime would be a hit among home gardeners. It is not only unique in color, but also performs up to the elevated standards our customers expect. We are very pleased that Horticulture Magazine has selected this outstanding variety for this distinction."
Lime is a designer color that gardeners will love and is an excellent compliment to contrasting colors in Proven Winners' popular Surfinia series. Unlike other Surfinia varieties that open fully and lay back, 'Lime' will hold its trumpet shape. The Surfinia line includes eight splendid performers that are also highly versatile. They enhance hanging baskets and are also terrific additions to patio containers and landscape plantings. Their low-maintenance qualities add to this variety's charm.
Horticulture Magazine is one of the premier consumer gardening publications. A national survey indicated that gardening magazines are among the top four sources of information used by more than 50% of garden writers to research new plants and Horticulture Magazine ranked as the most popular book or magazine they turn to. As the word spreads, this recognition is sure to generate increased demand for this unique new Proven Winners variety.
