Everyone interested in orchids is invited to join the American Orchid Society, which offers many privileges to beginners and experts alike.

Primary among membership benefits is the monthly 108-page Orchids magazine. Every issue is packed with dozens of color photographs and priceless tips and articles on orchid culture, conservation, hybridizing, propagation and more. A calendar of orchid shows assists in planning trips to view displays and exhibit plants. An advertising section presents sources of orchid plants, supplies and other products of value to the orchid grower.

Each new member also receives:

Your First Orchid, a 64-page softcover book filled with more than 70 color photographs and easy-to-read text that explains how to grow orchids and recommends different kinds to try in the greenhouse, on the windowsill, under lights and even in the garden. Prepared by the American Orchid Society.

AOS Almanac. A collection of Society activities, including a directory of 550 Affiliated Societies, AOS judges, a list of hundreds of orchid growers and more.

A 10-percent discount when purchasing any items -- books, pins, note cards, calendars, videos -- from the AOS BookShop

Answers to your orchid-related questions free of charge from the AOS Information Services Department.

Joining the world's most prestigious horticultural organization is easy and costs no more than the average orchid plant.
