I have been to London many times and the 8 – 9 hour flight each way is a
piece of cake. This flight took a little longer. From L.A. it took 13
hours to Taipei then another 4 ½ hours to KL. I didn’t know what I would
see at the other end…but let me tell you now that it was so worthwhile
that I would go again in a heartbeat! Malaysia Airlines and Tourism
Malaysia put this tour together and it was wonderful for two reasons…no,
perhaps three.
I didn’t have to plan it so I could actually relax and enjoy it, I met
some of the warmest and genteel people and I saw a country that exceeded
my expectations in so many ways.
I didn’t know what to expect, I had heard horror stories – usually from
people who had not been there before, but those were soon relinquished
to the back of my mind as I tried to take in as much as I could of this
beautiful country knowing the trip would be over sooner than I wanted.
June 8/9
Malaysia Airlines and Tourism Malaysia know how to treat their guests.
The flight was comfortable, even in economy class, because of more
space. The food was very good and the service was cheerful and friendly.
The female flight attendants wore these colourful long outfits and the
male flight attendants changed from the regular dark suit to a colourful
lapel jacket when serving food. I have included a picture of two of the
male attendants just because they were so nice and because one of them
actually grew up in a longhouse – which was one of the things we were to
see on this trip. The next two pictures are those of Taipei Airport and
our waiting room because we had to get off the plane while they loaded
it up again and changed the flight crew.
The next few pictures are those of my room at the Shangri-La Putrajaya.
This was a delight to come to after the trip and very welcome I might
add.
I had asked for fresh milk for my tea and two minutes later the door
bell rang (yes, we each had our own door bell) to a lady standing there
with a fresh silver pitcher of warm milk. Such a nice touch. Later that
day I stepped out to take some pictures of the garden leading from the
hotel, a night scene of the temple and one of my desert that evening.
The next morning before we left I took a picture of the pool area.
