Canada Blooms 1999
Held in the spacious Metro Toronto Convention Centre South, it is a show
that is worth going to! Filled with 37 Feature Gardens, a Marketplace, Horticulture Clubs,
The Garden Club of Toronto Hall with Floral Arrangements and all kinds of demonstrations,
the CTV Celebrity Cooking Garden, and the Education Hall filled during the 5 days with
speakers and hands on gardening demonstrations - it was a feast to behold,
especially during March!
What I especially liked was the Program & Source Guide - this magazine proved it's
worth when getting around the Feature Gardens. Each garden is displayed with a watercolour
rendering and details of what makes the garden. A wonderful reference guide to take home.
There was 350,000 square feet to explore...We were there from Tuesday nights Gala until
Thursday at noon and I think we saw just about everything! It was well laid out and the
Marketplace had lots of room to walk around, but the booths were sure busy!!
Up above the show, the Speakers Series took place, along with the Hands On Gardening
Demonstrations (where we had our presentation). There were also College Displays and
Flowers Canada Demonstrations.
I have included some pictures to help you get an idea of what the show was like, but you
just have to be there to really get into the mood - make next year your year! I even got a
picture of Art Drysdale 'working'!
