Art in Bloom 1999
Victoria BC
Put together by the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, it was a wonderful
example of what can happen when art meets horticulture.
The Gallery was transformed into a floral wonderland - designers interpreted art works and
created floral displays to go along with them. Speakers from as far away as Ireland spoke
and there were demonstrations on everything from watercolour painting to Bonsai. Empress
Tea was served each afternoon while guests got to preview the lastest in trends with a
roving fashion show.
The highlights were the Silent Auction and the Bloomin' Gala on Saturday night. The Silent
Auction had everything from aprons to works of art. The Gala was wonderful!! The food and
entertainment was a fitting end to an elegant event.
A special Thank you to Jean Addison and all the wonderful people we met while there...they
are a kind and generous group who worked very hard to put the whole event together!
I am including a few pictures of this event and hope you enjoy them! Oh...and I also threw
in a picture of me leaving after the Gala with 'Art'...He was my guest that
evening...(actually he was 'won' in the Silent Auction by my sister in law and Tom had to
head off to Winnipeg that afternoon and missed the event) and the artwork on my lap is
what I won in the auction!
t
his is the end
