On to Jaipur today….Abhaneri Chand Baori Step Wells, on to our
hotel to rest before heading out to High Tea at Rambagh Palace
and dinner this evening in an Indian family home. The step wells
are incredible, you just cannot imagine the size of this place
and what it must have been like to live during this time. Let it
be known that this step well is also the deepest in the world,
constructed in the 9th century and as deep as a 13 story
building. They were used to gather water to be used when there
was no rain. Just outside the wells a touch of village life with
children, cattle and fruit and veg stands. Off again and arrival
at our hotel to check in and freshen up for our tea at the
Rambagh Palace…roses petals greeted us as we arrived and from
there to the outside lawns to enjoy our choice of tea.
Afterwards we enjoyed a special treat of a visit to the
Presidential Suite…how posh. My most favourite was the fabric
for the drapes surrounding the four poster bed…exquisite and so
like the beautiful peacock that is the national bird.
