On our way to Bharatpur today… Fatehpur Sikri, Keoladeo Bird
Sanctuary with guided tour by a Naturalist, and then back to
hotel for some relaxation. There is nothing like India in the
world I think…the streets and villages. We saw so much including
cow paddies made into little houses to be used for fuel. Then we
were at Fatehpur Sikri, a place where time looks to have stood
still. So perfectly preserved and still to this day mysteries
abound. The greatest mystery is all about the small building
with the round pedestal…they are still trying to figure out what
is really was made for. We will just enjoy the many layers here
from the pools to the tall tower building where it was said all
the concubines lived. We will enjoy the wonderful little gardens
scattered around to provide cooling areas for the people. We
will enjoy the incredible carvings we see, amazed at their
delicateness, the flowers and trees and leaves and birds on
them. I could spend hours here. Back on the highway to the
hotel, lunch and then a wonderful guided tour of Keoladeo
National Park…it really helps when the guide is a naturalist who
is passionate about this place and has a great telescope too!
Our hotel for the night is a heritage hotel, still owned by the
same family and a respite from the millions of people out and
about. Here it is so quiet, no phone, no television, just a pool
and a spa and yes, peacocks.
