January 20th Roatan, Honduras

At only 37 miles long and less than 5 miles wide at the broadest point it is a very small island. As our ship docked very close to some old sea wrecks we could see a lovely tropical setting to discover including a chair lift that took you to Mahogany Island with its wonderful sandy beaches and many bars to sip at and lounge chairs to relax in. During the 16th and 17th centuries over 5,000 pirates called the Bay Islands home. They stashed their bounty throughout Roatan, and still to this day treasure hunters from around the world hope to find that treasure that awaits someone. There are lots of things to do here but our ship was only here until 3 p.m. so we just checked out the local beach area and sat and had a relaxing drink while listening to some great music.
