Chelsea Flower Show Tour 2014
May 20th - 28th
May 23rd Visits to
SPECIAL GUIDED VISIT TO the Gardens of Raymond Blanc OBE - Le Manoir Aux
Quat' Saisons - very posh hotel with stunning gardens. The veggie garden is
absolutely huge and is used to supply the restaurant. We had the most
wonderful cookies and coffee before heading out on our private tour. The in
house florist works in a 16th century potting shed. They use the 'Hidcote'
lavender for all sorts of things including potpourri and ice cream. There
are over 600 heritage trees in the orchards and the idea is to grow them to
let people come and take cuttings of them to grow their own. Totally organic
and totally inspiring one off visit.
Waterperry Gardens - the gardens were so beautiful to wander through. Many
different ones too. Also on site is a great garden center. Afterwards you
could walk over to Saint Mary the Virgin Waterperry. A tiny church and very
old. Dating back to the 11th century. I loved the old pews stacked with
cushions to sit and kneel on and high to keep heat in. The stained glass was
incredible...medieval. Make sure you read the photos of the little signs in
the church. I also think this is the oldest door knocker I have ever taken a
photo of.
