Penshurst
Place - house and home since the 14th century. The great hall with its arching chestnut
roof and rare octagonal hearth has been described as one of the world's grandest rooms.
Home to the Sidney family for nearly 450 years. Entertaining such guests as Edward VI,
Hentry VIII, Queen Elizabeth I, King James I and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. A mile of yew hedging divides the garden
rooms..you don't see what's inside until you are there. Look at these Lupins...they seem to be
telling us to look at their beauty...and the Sundial and Demi Lune are in one of the three
ponds built in the 1800's. You can see Penshurst Church from the Rose Garden.
