The " Group " |
And so it was...the greatest display of floral exhibits under one roof, the most beautiful gardens that looked as though they had always been there, the newest introductions, wonderful uses of colour and accessories and on and on...
Hampton Court Palace...the first buildings belonged to the Knights Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem, a religious order founded in the early 12th century to protect the Holy Land from the Turks.
The Castle was started in 1080 by William the Conqueror and has been occupied for over 900 years.
This was Hever Castle built in 1500. ...this was truly one of my favourites...
Knole...built between 1456 and 1486, by Thomas Bourchier, Archbishop of Canterbury. In 1566 the Queen presented the house and estate to her cousin Thomas Sackville, who again remodelled and enlarged it and whose family have lived in it ever since.
Fire had destroyed the home in 1947 and it took the Messel's daughter Anne Rosse and her husband years to get it back in shape.
Home to the Sidney family for nearly 450 years. Entertaining such guests as Edward VI, Hentry VIII, Queen Elizabeth I, King James I and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
Sheffield Park Garden covers some 100 acres and is set around 4 lakes. It contains one of the finest collections of trees and shrubs in the British Isles.
Sissinghurst is truly a beautiful garden...and should be on everyones wish list...
For over 90 years it has been a garden for both beauty and instruction.
