Flavours of Scotland
April 19th – 24th, 2016
After breakfast we were off again and our first stop was to
Dean’s Shortbread…awesome, love their shortbread and I learned
that if you heat the cookies up just a tiny bit in the microwave
they taste even better … my absolute favourite is the shortbread
with tiny bits of lemon in it…when I go back I am going to bring
about 10 cans of these cookies home with me. Lunch was at the
Glen Lui Hotel in Ballater with such a great soup to warm us
all, after all we did see frost on the fields on the way
through! Then on to taste cheese at Cambus O’May Cheese Company.
Had a great tour through here with James and lots of samples.
The photos of the landscape on the way to Scone show lots of
black patches … later on they bloom as they are heather. Finally
arrived at Scone Palace, and again, no photos inside but we
could take them in the café which was the old
kitchen...afterwards I wandered around the gardens and took
quite a long walk before meeting up with the cattle. From here
it was on to our next hotel, Atholl Arms Hotel, where it just so
happened that they are also owners of the Moulin Brewery … we
tried four different kinds and enjoyed another excellent meal.
The food in Scotland is just so good…
