VisitScotland Expo
Flavours of Scotland
April 19th – 24th, 2016

April 20th

The lobby of The George just invites you to come sit down and read the morning news…and that is what I did before having my breakfast and getting ready for our first day of VisitScotland Expo …  what so surprised me this expo is how many boutique gin distilleries there are in Scotland. Everyone knows about whiskey but the gin produced here is excellent …. and so it was that my lunch this day consisted of chocolates and gin not because that is what I decided on but because there was just so much to see and I had appointments every 15 minutes, that I would just grab a sample of each along the way…along with crisps and shortbread … and cupcakes to celebrate the Queen’s 90th, and even a Thyme to Relax’ cocktail at the end of the show day…then back to the hotel to get ready for the evening at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, a fun venue for all kinds of events but for us, a really posh evening of drinks, dinner, awards and then a ceilidh to end the evening. You will have to excuse the purple glow to the photos as the lighting for our evening was coloured. I know the food was excellent so you will just have to take my word for it, and as you can see my the menu 100 percent of the ingredients in this menu have been grown, reared, fished, harvested, produced or made in Scotland…that is quite the testament!
