MALAYSIA MEGA FAMILIARISATION PROGRAMME
IN CONJUNCTION WITH MEGASALES CARNIVAL FAM
Kuala Lumpur – Cameron Highlands – Penang - Langkawi
JUNE 12 – 27, 2007
Day 8 June 19, 2007 (Tuesday) Cameron Highlands – Penang
This morning, we had breakfast and then checked out of our hotel because we
were going to Penang. I had heard about it before but had never been, so I
was truly looking forward to seeing this area.
On the way there, we stopped at Cameron Highlands Tea Plantation to take
pictures then another stop at Taiping Lake Gardens.
We also stopped at the Bukit Merah Laketown Resort Orang Utan Island which
was a real treat. The babies were so cute in their cribs and they are really
taken care of by a very attentive staff. This is a place that you should
visit if you are in the area…we were so impressed. It’s a 35 acre island
with 5 acres devoted to rehabilitation and preservation where orang utans
are able to roam free. It is a breeding sanctuary and education center so
that you can better understand this endangered species. What makes it unique
is that you are the one in the cage! The infant care center is very
important as females give birth to just one little one every five years. I
had seen the sanctuary in Borneo and I think I appreciate this one just a
bit more.
We arrived in Penang, the Pearl of the Orient, after much driving and road
traffic. After getting settled in at our hotel, the Lone Pine Resort, we met
for dinner…now picture the group sitting as one table with the ocean sounds
and the sun setting…it was heaven. The food was heaven too!
The night market is just as the end of the entrance to the hotel so guess
what we did after dinner…shop some more. Fantastic bargains to be had by
all.
