June 9, 2011 Thursday DAY OF LEISURE

This day I enjoyed a late breakfast then went to the market where I met quite a few of the tour guests. There is a big market held each Thursday filled with all sorts of things, mostly imported. Everything from shoes, clothes and handbags to kitchen ware and bedding. Many locals go there.

The town is a wonderful size to walk around so headed back towards the hotel and ended up taking a few photos of some beautiful architecture and checking out a hotel. This town is full of spas so it is highly recommended to take a map and just get out and walk.

I also ate a light lunch at a very cool café right on main street called the New York Cafe. Felt great after that so more shopping!!

A linen shop was right across the street so went in there to buy some fine cotton pillow cases. This is an excellent shop with a wide variety of not only bedding but exquisite night wear in fine cotton.

A note on shopping and currency – try and get your euros outside the country. The exchange rate is ridiculous. Most shops are closed from about 1 to 3 pm each day so plan this time for your lunch.

Also when asking for a cup of coffee be sure to ask for American coffee…or you will get a tiny little cup of espresso!
