Flight to Cuenca and Orchid Center Ecuagenera

See the first two shots of the mountain? It is erupting and we caught it just as they started…what a thrill!

Once we arrive we set off to visit the largest Orchid producer in South America, Orchid Center Ecuagenera. Before we visit the plantation, we will have the opportunity of learning a bit about orchids. http://www.ecuagenera.com/ During the walk through the plantation you will observe the smallest to the largest orchids - some so tiny and fragile you have to observe them with a loupe. We will enjoy lunch here.

Again, I had been here before and knew everyone would love this place and it would be hard to drag them away and I was right…these orchids are exquisite.

This evening we were in for a treat as we had our dinner at the Teatro Restaurant. This is in the same building at the Teatro National. We had been here on the first tour and enjoyed it so much and as you can tell by all the photos that I took of what we ate…it was a theatrical presentation. The busts of the male and female are on the doors to the washrooms…how unique!
