CITM 2007 Hosted Buyers Trip to China
Hosted by China National Tourist Office, Toronto, Canada
Air by China Eastern Airlines
October 29th, to November 7th, 2007
Trips like this are always so exciting …
they give me the opportunity to see new areas for discovery when putting my
tours together, they offer me the ability to see so much more by visiting
the trade show and talking to suppliers and of course they let me meet new
people and new friends. Thank you CNTO for this opportunity! This year CITM
was held in Kunming, China and in 2008 it will be held in Shanghai, China.
October 29th I flew from Panama to Vancouver then waited to board my flight
at 2:30 a.m. This flight got us in to Shanghai at 6:20 p.m. the next day. We
then spent the night at the Shanghai Jinjiang Tower, then the next morning
flew to Kunming. We were greeted at the airport then taken to our hotel, the
Greenland Hotel. We had a beautiful reception given by the CITM Organizing
Committee and Yunan Municipal People’s Government on the 31st. I should say
that their idea of a ‘reception’ is almost like a state dinner! All the
flavours of Yunnan and all made by top notch chefs using organic materials!
17 different items – all incredible.
November 1st, was devoted to the CITM trade show…and what a show it was! The
booths, food (take a look at the beautiful plate decorated like a palm
tree), shows, entertainment and the people are what makes for a fantastic
show and this show had it in spades.
The big stage outside where the formal introductions were made was covered
in poinsettias, ferns and orchids. Can you see our Canadian flag hanging
there? I felt so proud to see it. Some of the show booths were awesome,
brightly covered in flowers and groups singing and dancing.
The entertainment for our evening was just incredible … all these beautiful
ladies dressed up in costumes to look like flowers. The pictures do not do
them justice…it was a wonderful show!!
The pictures of the four ladies are ladies dressed in different ethnic
village costumes that were there to say good bye to us as we left the trade
show on the last evening and I end off with some pictures of our hotel
