PRESS RELEASE

'Violet Minaret'

Pride of Place Plants Inc.™ is pleased to announce that Mr. Leroy Kriese of Ambrosia Gardens, Vernon, British Columbia, Canada has retained our services to promote and market his New and Exciting dwarf perennial Salvia cultivar named: 'Violet Minaret'.

'Violet Minaret'

A genetic dwarf, 'Violet Minaret' is very compact and slow growing. The oldest test plant is about 30cm (12") tall as a three year old, established, herbaceous perennial. Violet Minaret will start blooming and slowly increasing in height till frost. Color is a very nice deep violet-purple.

'Violet Minaret 'does not appear to come true from seed (from our first tests) and needs to be clonally propagated. Deadheading and removing spent blossoms is a good idea to prevent it from going "wild".

This dwarf Salvia has proven very hardy, we have grown it in many different situations, in dry gardens, and traditional perennial borders. Excessive watering may increase height but the plant does not seem to become tall or lanky as other Salvias do. 'Violet Minaret' seems to be more resistant to burnout in our hot and dry Okanagan summers.

We feel it is ideal used in a dry rock garden in full sun. 'Violet Minaret' is also excellent at the front of a border as an edging, perhaps even used as a bedding out plant due to its very long and continuous bloom. Early deadheading will promote the most steady floral display.

'Violet Minaret' is a real find and appears to be one of those "Garden Gems" that has proven it's worth to be propagated and introduced to the gardening public.

Mr. Kriese has been involved in horticulture for some time, although his eventual goal is to become a full time plant developer through his outstanding hybridizing projects. Salvia 'Violet Minaret' may be his first cultivar to gain recognition, many New Cultivars await final development for distribution to the home gardens and landscapes throughout the world.

'Violet Minaret' will be a significant addition to your perennial line. We are hopeful you will consider this fine introduction as a cultivar you will add to your New Plant Inventory.

Sincerely, Rick Sorenson , Pride of Place Plants Inc.
