Any tips for building healthy soil on a glacial till, North sloping land? Soil is acidic and needs organic matter. Goal is to grow healthy vegetables and fruit.

COMPOST IS THE BEST WAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SOIL. i GATHER EXTRA LEAVES IN THE FALL FROM THE STREET AND MAKE A HUGE PILE AND BY AUGUST IT IS READY TO PUT IN THE GARDEN

You can also collect grass clippings from your neighbors who have no dog yards. I use this to mulch my rows and beds after the soil warms in the spring. It also composts in place and I just add more several times a year as needed. The rest goes into the compost pile for bedding plants.

Start with a thorough soil test.
Organic matter is always a good plus. Look at a green manure suitable for your region too.
I like a green mulch to build the bacterial soil organisms. This year I planted half my home plot in rye to use as a mulch; a good allelopathic treatment to control weeds while the plants grow.
Build a compost or find a source of cured compost. The leaves are agood fall addition.
