So does anyone have an idea why my lilac tree did not bloom this year? I did NOT cut it back at the wrong time. I am an experienced gardener and this has not happened to me before. Thanks for your help!

I cut my lilac tree back last fall, and I did not have any lilacs this year either. When are you suppose to cut them back. Thanks, Lisa

They bloom in spring on old wood, which you probably cut off. But I didn't. I really need help with this.

How long has this plant been in this spot? If it does not get the very early spring sun, then it will get very little if any blooms, even if it gets full sun later on in the season. If it is the plants' second year, you may have "shocked" it into blooming the first year of planting and it may still be in the wrong site. Cheers

Hello Bad year for a lot of garden friends. Our Lilac has done the same thing, heads built up and then withered just like frost wiped it out. I have new growth coming from the bottom that looks healthy. I lost Cut Leaf Elder x2, Dapne, Honeysuckle vine and it looks like two Gigantis Miscantus. Oh the joy of gardening HA HA HA

I was just given a baby Lilac tree (about 4 inches from the crown) and know nothing about them. Since the weather has been so bad (my old honeysuckle and dogwood bushes went bad), I'm afraid to plant my new lilac. Any advice as to where and when? I'd appreciate it very much as I am a new outdoor gardener. Thx.

My lilac tree this year was covered in blooms which have now faded, however there is not one leaf on the tree and no sign of leaf buds. What is happening.
