Specialty or Alternative Crops Workshop
June 24, 1999

Are you, or your group, association or club, interested in the production, processing or marketing of specialty or alternative crops?

Would you like to meet with other like-minded people to find areas of mutually beneficial co-operative actions?

This workshop is co-sponsored by the Flower and Herb Growers Association of Alberta and Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development.

THE FLOWER AND HERB GROWERS ASSOCIATION OF ALBERTA
is hosting a

Co-operative Action Meeting
June 24, 1999 - 10 AM to 4 PM
Riverdale Hall - 9231 100 Ave
Edmonton AB

Come and help us investigate the possibilities for co-operative action between associations, groups and individuals producing, processing or marketing specialty or alternative crops in Alberta. One short term goal of the meeting is to come up with an action plan and some resolutions for actions that can be undertaken in the near future.

Interested groups and individuals are encouraged to take part by sending a representative(s) to the meeting. Groups will have time to present their own issues to the meeting and to take part in large and small discussion groups as well as a the plenary session on methods, strategies, benefits and risks of co-operation.

Registration is $10 for the day's sessions, including lunch. There will be a barbecue following the afternoon closing. Tickets an additional $10.
Agenda

  1. Purpose of the meeting

  2. Introductions from hosts, sponsors, and groups attending.

  3. Presentation and input from each group - purpose of your organization, your vision for the future of your commodity and your industry, why are you considering a closer working relationship? How will this benefit your membership? Suggestions and ideas for how this might happen. What are the strengths your organization brings to the table.
    Discussion

  4. Visioning

  5. How can this vision happen. What are barriers.

  6. Next steps and action steps.

  7. Resolution for action.
    Barbecue.
