Free Grow and Go Together app offers an all-in-one solution for taking your harvest from the garden to the table

05.07.2010 – Wondering about the best way to plant basil? Trying to figure out how to use your bountiful harvest in your kitchen? Stumped on why your rosemary isn’t growing? P. Allen Smith and Bonnie Plants have partnered to offer gardeners an iPhone app, making it easy to take their garden harvest straight to the table.

In contrast to other gardening apps, Grow and Go Together combines everything needed to grow your own herbs and vegetables and use them in everyday cooking. The app includes growing information for 50 of the most popular vegetables and herbs that can be sorted by season, allowing users to easily plan their spring, summer and fall gardens. iPhone users can then pull recipes up while at the grocery store to determine ingredients for some of P. Allen Smith’s favorite recipes made from the 50 herbs and vegetables.

Grow and Go Together includes dozens of recipes, vegetable and herb container combo ideas, and projects such as compost bins, cold frames and support structures. Popular recipes, such as Aunt Genny’s sauerkraut, citrus ginger broccoli and strawberry pizza, provide gardeners with unique ways to use their harvest. And instructional tips, such as container gardening and compost bin assembly, help gardeners maximize their planting efforts.

“We’ve worked with Bonnie Plants to provide iPhone users with an extremely useful app that helps encourage people to grow their own food,” Smith said. “It’s wonderful to harness new technologies to put so much information in the palm of your hand. The Grow and Go Together app will help established gardeners, and inspire a new generation of backyard gardeners as well.”

“We’ve been growing herbs and vegetables for almost 100 years now, and wanted a user-friendly way for gardeners to access some of our best tips,” said Stan Cope, president of Bonnie Plants. “These tips paired with P. Allen Smith’s recipes and container ideas make for a fun app for gardeners at any level.”
