June 15, 2008

If you are a budding video director looking for a vibrant visual setting—and a little fame and fortune—Park Seed Company has the perfect opportunity for you! As part of our annual Flower Day event, we are inviting amateur videographers to create video clips showcasing the 9-acre trial gardens at our national headquarters in Greenwood, SC. Winning videos will be posted on Park Seed’s YouTube Channel and will be featured in numerous newsletters and websites in the Park Seed family of brands. In addition to bragging rights, top winners in five categories will each also receive a $250 gift certificate from Wayside Gardens, America’s premier source for the newest, hard-to-find plants. Categories are: Best Flower Day Overview, Most Creative, Funniest, Best Use of Flower Images, and Best Use of Vegetable Images. Videos must last 5 minutes or less, use no copyrighted elements, and be composed primarily of footage shot in the Park Seed Trial Gardens. The deadline for entries is July 15, 2008. See www.ParkPR.com  for complete rules.

“Still photos just can’t capture the magnitude and excitement of experiencing our gardens first-hand,” stated Special Projects Director Claire F. Kuhl. “We are developing our own videos, of course, but we think it will be exciting to see what other creative people can come up with when given such a gorgeous visual backdrop—and huge cast of characters. If you enjoy people-watching, the thousands of visitors who come here during the South Carolina Festival of Flowers will not disappoint! We believe that Flower Day and indeed, the whole month of June, offer plenty of grist for the clever director’s mill.”

The Park Seed Trial Gardens are open every day during daylight hours, with no admission charge. The gardens should be at their peak on and around June 21, the official date for Flower Day 2008. Directions to the Park Seed Company headquarters and a complete Flower Day schedule are available on www.ParkPR.com . Video entries can be submitted in QuickTime or MPG4 format via email to parkseedvideos@gmail.com  or on CD or DVD to Park Seed Video Contest, 1 Parkton Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29647. Only two entries per person, per category, please.
