If you are thinking about renovating your house or your yard, it is very likely that you will have to work with some heavy stone. For example, if you choose to pave your alley or rebuild a wall, you will need to deal with some brick blocks.

While it is a good initiative to do some work on your own, you should remember that moving heavy materials can be dangerous and it can lead to back injury if you do not do it the right way. That is why today we are here to share with you a couple of tips that should make this task easier for you.

Flip the stone

If you have to deal with a really large stone, it can be difficult to carry it, or place it in a wheelbarrow, especially if it is really heavy as well. Therefore, you can choose to flip the stone. Simply place it on the ground, lift one edge and then flip it over. Does this until you move it where you need to. When you get low and lift remember to use your arms, not your back.

This method only works if you have a soft surface, such as grass or even dirt. Otherwise you might break the object, and this wouldn’t be a good thing. Remember to wear gloves as well, so that you won’t hurt your hands. Leather gloves are recommended.

Use a dolly

A dolly can be a great way to carry heavy materials, even if you have more blocks that you need to move. For example, if you chose Modular Masonry brick pavers perth, you can simply take the brick pavers, arrange them on the dolly and then push it where you need them.

The dolly is also very stable since it has a low center of gravity and two wheels, so you don’t have to worry about dropping the load. You can choose one with pneumatic tires so that it will be easier for you to roll it on surfaces such as grass.

Roll the stone

If there is a flat ground, you can consider rolling the object. This method is easier than it seems. Simply place three PVC pipes on the ground, and then place heavy object on the ground, then lift one edge with a pry bar and place two pipes under it. Then put a pipe near the front and start rolling, when a pipe comes free place it to the front and then continue.

Lift the stone

In some situations, it is impossible to avoid lifting. However, there are some ways to make sure that you won’t hurt yourself. Start by bending your knees a bit and then lay the stone against your legs. Grip the lower side.

Then lean back so that you lift the stone with your legs. Walk carefully and make sure that you don’t stumble. If you feel like you are about to drop the stone make sure that it won’t land on your toes.
