ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES Chartered Bus trips To public gardens or parks in the Lower Mainland Plant sale April 30, 2011 Open gardens - members open their gardens to viewing by the club Student Bursaries are provided by the club to current UFV students studying horticulture An Executive Committee Is elected annually to direct the activities and control the finances of the club The club has an Annual General Meeting every November to elect new members to the Executive Board.

MONTHLY MEETINGS Our slogan for 2011 Enjoy our blooming gardens!! Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at Cooke’s Presbyterian Church on Wellington Ave, in Chilliwack, B.C. There are no meetings in January and August. Our July meeting takes the form of a picnic at a pre-scheduled site. • Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m.sharp Refreshments are provided by members. • There is a guest speaker on a gardening topic at each meeting. • A question and answer time for your gardening problems. • Grow and Show (see details following) • Plant Sale table – available most months with donated plants, seeds, books etc. for purchase-by-donation. • A nametag is available with your membership. You are encouraged to wear it at each meeting and event.
GROW AND SHOW At monthly meetings… A show of seasonal cut flowers, plants, produce and floral arrangements. A schedule appears in the monthly Newsletter. Never be afraid to enter the shows. We are all amateur gardeners and” winning” for us is more luck than judgment. To show an exhibit contact the Grow and Show secretary for information. The top 5 point earners are recognized at the end of the year. Constructive views are given by experienced judges to assist members with ‘tips’ on showing. SPECIAL EVENTS Trophies are awarded at the Spring Flower Show, June Rose and Flower Show and the Fall Show for winning entries. NEWSLETTER - Lists upcoming events, bus trips, open gardens, and shows - Lists the scheduled speaker for next meeting - Lists volunteers responsible for refreshments at next meeting - Grow and Show schedule for the next meeting - Contains instructive planting and growing tips
