tonyb (Sambro): Nov 5 08:59 PM   check out the cool garden gargoyle statues and dragon statues at http://uniquelawngardenstatues.bravesites.com, never seen such detail with concrete and there stained with concrete stain not painted in Nova Scotia

A.D (Parksville): May 13 10:47 PM   Hello anyone! If you have a gardening question, please send it to me directly at: art@artdrysdale.com. I will likely answer you in one o my weekly columns on this site. Thanks!
LoriR (Melbourne, FL): Apr 18 04:54 PM   I planted Kipfel fingerling potatoes in February in an above ground cage. I figured there would be less moisture to bother the potatoes that way. Now one of my yellow squash plants has powdery mildew and blight and the potatoes showed black spots on the leaves, then expired. Q: Can I harvest anything from the potatoes? should I remove all powdery plants? I sprayed with a neem oil fungicide miticide insecticide. From this discussion I will spray liquid copper tonight. I think I am too late? Will plants recover once blighted? Read more: http://www.icangarden.com/forum.cfm?task=viewthread&categoryid=288&chatthreadid=8449&messages=9#ixzz1JuUd46Rl
A.D (Parksville): Jan 24 03:41 PM   The reason there has been no chat was that we had a terribly low turnout of folks--often just you and sometimes Shirley in Caesarea. I have no objection to starting it again, but would like to know what the heck we can do to get more people to come on. We've had a relatively mild winter here, and right now we appear to be a narrow strip on the continent that has mild weather!!! We had two sligh falls of snow--on in mid November that lasted about five days, and one last month that lasted only a few days. Do tell me more about this new puppy!
A.D (Parksville): Jan 24 03:38 PM   Your rose problem Michelle sounds like a water problem even though you say "they had plenty of water". Quite possible it was rose midge (Dasineura rhodophaga) even though y ou didn't specifically see the small pin prick holes. Very difficult to control now that we don't have systemic insecticides any more.
A.D (Parksville): Jan 24 03:31 PM   Hello Michelle! Sorry not to have been on for about six weeks, but we have had a 9-month-old standard poodle puppy with us while his owner vacationed in Hawaii. He goes back home tomorrow (Tuesday) so I've been busier than normal, particularly because we take him for at least one long walk daily, plus play time in the garden! We leave him in my office so he does not "get involved" with the Cat!
MichelleL (Armstrong): Jan 23 01:58 PM   wow is this part of the site gone? you should be letting people know then.. thought id at least get a reply for my question.. disappointing

A.D (Parksville): Nov 14 02:34 PM   O.K. I am going back into the house to have some breakfast. Sorry I missed you!
A.D (Parksville): Nov 14 02:27 PM   Fareed Zakaria was very good as usual, coming from Hong Kong this week. His major individual guest was George Schultz former Secty. of State and many other positions in the Regan and Nixon administrations. He is now 90 years of age, and talked a bit about gardening!!!
A.D (Parksville): Nov 14 01:02 PM   Hi to anyone out there! I forgot about Fareed Zakaria on CNN when I said I would be here between 10 and 11 AM BC time. I shall return to him now, and be here just after 11 AM.
A.D (Parksville): Nov 13 11:19 PM   Hello Michele! I shall try and be here on Sunday morning, between 10 and 11 AM B.C. time.

MichelleL (armstrong): Nov 10 01:03 PM   Hi Art..how was your summer? good i hope, will check in on Sunday
A.D (Parksville): Nov 9 09:15 PM   Well, Hi again. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to check in on Sunday at all, but in looking now, it might have been for nought, since there seems to have been no one else here.
A.D (Parksville): Nov 6 12:47 PM   Hi all! It's been a long time since April! I see Michelle has been checking but not too many others. What is the collective thought, shoul I resurrect the weekly sessions? Let me know either here or at: art@artdrysdale.com.

A.D (Parksville): Apr 18 01:23 PM   I have no idea, but there is mention in the press release that the most recent owners, Halifax-based Clarke Inc (with Roycap Merchant Banking) bought the ting for $5.8 million, in late 2007, and the recent sale was for $10.2 million cahs plus $3.1 million in 8% notes that mature in 2012. That's a nice gain for them.
DonnaD (Panama City): Apr 18 01:16 PM   no didn't hear about that Art...
ThomasD (Panama City): Apr 18 01:15 PM   why are they being bounced from one company to another?
ThomasD : Apr 18 01:15 PM   why are they being bounced from one company to another?
A.D (Parksville): Apr 18 01:12 PM   It's amazing how much the rain can do. We still have a good snow cover on the mid-Island mountains, so that vibes well for the summer supply of water we think!
A.D (Parksville): Apr 18 01:11 PM   I am writing about it just a bit! I've totally lost track just how many times the company has been bought and sold. This time I don't know yet whether John Hill, the CEO, is going to stay on or not.
ThomasD (Panama City): Apr 18 01:11 PM   we were talking this am about how amazing one week can be - last week the grass was brown the trees sagging - now with some rain this last week all is green and alive

DonnaD (Panama City): Apr 18 01:08 PM   sunny and warm here today...lovely breeze. was down at the beds weeding and the plants are looking very good with the rain this week.

A.D (Parksville): Apr 18 01:05 PM   It was supposed to be raining today, but the sun came out about two hours ago, and it is still sunny. Temperature still cool--16 C presently.

A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 02:19 PM   O.K. Ta, ta for now!
DonnaD (Panama City): Apr 11 02:18 PM   let's pack it in, I have much to do before the day is done :) and no, I don't remember Laura or meeting her. I do get a lot of email so she could have sent me something...sorry!
DonnaD (Panama City): Apr 11 02:17 PM   I try Art...it has taken me a long time to get this far. Other people who used to do tours are not doing them any more and you have to keep on top of it...always letting them know about them...my Morocco tour that just went out last night to those who had asked about it, has four spots taken already. I work hard...
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 02:15 PM   Well, do you think we should pack it in for this AM? By the way Donna, you didn't say anything about Laura Schaub from the San Fran show saying she tweated with you occasionally. I just wondered if you had gained any impression of her. I found her quite ineffective at the PR.
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 02:11 PM   That is interesting because several travel outfits I know have said just the opposite. It must be your 'personal' approach. It is funny the way it goes, because with that huge audience that I had on AM740 we could not seem to raise any interest at all!
DonnaD (Panama City): Apr 11 02:08 PM   yes, as a matter of fact I have people booking the tours
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 02:06 PM   Does Donna get any amount of response for tours from what you have in their Trellis magazine? Over the years, manmy, many people have said that the only reason they advertise in there is to support the Civic Garden Centre, now Toronto Botanical Garden.
ThomasD (Panama City): Apr 11 02:05 PM   too many of these types of business ideas get a chunk of cash up front, they go for the homerun and if they don't hit a homerun they don't want to build a business slowly - nor do their investors :}
ThomasD : Apr 11 02:05 PM   too many of these types of business ideas get a chunk of cash up front, they go for the homerun and if they don't hit a homerun they don't want to build a business slowly - nor do their investors :}
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 02:03 PM   That's kinda too bad--I never like to see a business go down. Maybe I would have thought they should have goine to the people using the service first, and asked for a small payment?
ThomasD (Panama City): Apr 11 02:00 PM   they have a message on their home page saying "we enjoyed our time together"

A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 01:59 PM   But as far as you know, that didn't happen with them, eh?
ThomasD (Panama City): Apr 11 01:53 PM   not sure what their business model was - there are lots of services on the web that try and build a critical mass and then sell out to a bigger entity like google or microsoft

A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 01:53 PM   I thought the largest number I ever saw was about 12 or 14 for any one comment.
ThomasD (Panama City): Apr 11 01:52 PM   there were actually quite a few people who used to routinely check out your comments -
ThomasD : Apr 11 01:52 PM   there were actually quite a few people who used to routinely check out your comments -
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 01:51 PM   Where did they think they were going to make some $ on the service?
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 01:51 PM   There was one of the ladies here who used to check it out periodically, and she hasn't said anything about it yet.
ThomasD (Panama City): Apr 11 01:50 PM   yes, they stopped offering the service - or went out of business or ??
ThomasD : Apr 11 01:50 PM   yes, they stopped offering the service - or went out of business or ??
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 01:50 PM   Oh, I see, they discontinued the service did they?
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 01:49 PM   You know I send 90 second vignettes to two different radio stations in Ontario every week, often having to re-record one or two in order that they be "current", and yet I just didn't seem to be able to find the time to read one or two of them into the Snapvine.
ThomasD (Panama City): Apr 11 01:48 PM   no i didn't take it down as much as snapvine the service stopped - so there was nothing left
ThomasD : Apr 11 01:48 PM   no i didn't take it down as much as snapvine the service stopped - so there was nothing left
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 01:47 PM   No, as a matter of fact I did not. In fact I hardly glanced at last week's item as it was a busy week here. You decided to take it down did you? Cannot say I blame you, but the response was not exactly the greatest! A bit like we're doing on the Chat now!
ThomasD (Panama City): Apr 11 01:38 PM   i assume you noticed the absence of the audio chat on your articles
ThomasD : Apr 11 01:38 PM   i assume you noticed the absence of the audio chat on your articles
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 01:37 PM   I wonder if that Chapter 11 filing will be the first of a number, as happened back in the 80s when Weall & Cullen and Sheridan almost went under in Ontario.
DonnaD (Panama City): Apr 11 01:36 PM   yes, I got the press release on Park last week
DonnaD (Panama City): Apr 11 01:34 PM   no, those were hibiscus etc...in the beds
DonnaD (Panama City): Apr 11 01:34 PM   aww, sounds like your red one knows it is not loved as much as the pink one is :)
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 01:33 PM   And, by the way, I assume you read about the Chapter 11 filing by Park Seeds and J&P Roses last week? They are saying operations will carry on as usual, but that will likely scare a bunch of people from ordering.
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 01:29 PM   Oh, I thought when you said "all the ones we put in last week in the beds......" that you were referring to Camellias.
A.D (Parksville): Apr 11 01:28 PM   Unlike the red one, our C. sasanqua tries hard and produces quite a few flowers, but often a cold few days will get the flowers. And, the C. sasanqua is planted very close to the annoying red one!
DonnaD (Panama City): Apr 11 01:27 PM   no, no camellia here that I am aware of...
DonnaD (Panama City): Apr 11 01:26 PM   well, it is not happy where it is planted :) the other one is perhaps?
