GWA Annual Symposium
Valley Forge, PA .
August 25-28, 2006
August 25th After picking up our
registration bags those of us who were there attended their Region Meetings.
Our Region 7 meeting had quite a few people so it was a great chance to get
caught up, find out what was coming up and just general chit chat until the
Garden Products Information Exhibit Opened. With more than 70 booths
representing more than 50 companies, this year’s Garden Productions
Information Exhibition was one of the most exciting places for any garden
communications expert to expand their knowledge of current garden trends,
products, and information. I really enjoy this time because we get to see
whose has what coming out before it gets out to the general gardening
public. Fantastic new plant introductions, tools and all manner of garden
accessories are always presented at every symposium. Then there was a
reception where we got to enjoy a glass of whatever and some nibbles. During
this time Robert Lagasse, our Executive Director, was surprised when he was
presented a rose in his name. It was named in his honour for his 15 years of
service in the GWA. We had a bit of time to rest and get ready for our
Dinner & A World Movie Premier Sponsored by All-America Rose Selections.
This movie was a short film debut on America’s love affair with the rose,
and learn why it deserves the honor of America’s flower. It was a class act
movie with much hand clapping afterwards. Expect to see it shown at our
Region 7 meeting at Canada Blooms in 2007.
