China – Flower Blossoms & Peony
Festival Tour
April 8th to April 22nd, 2008
Our last visit on this tour on the 21st was
to the Shanghai Botanical garden. A visual treat for all as they were just
setting up gardens in preparation for the games. The Shanghai Botanical
Gardens is divided into four spacious sectors that specialize in magnolias,
peonies, azaleas, roses, osmanthus, ferns, bamboo, maples, and conifers. The
orchid garden is considered the best in China. The gardens are a tool for
education, scientific research, sightseeing and production. The gardens also
act in the training of introduced species. A new area known as the 'Plant
Evolution Section' has been built inside the complex where where
horticultural experiments are conducted. This is a more traditional garden
in which medicinal plants are grown and harvested.
Our final evening together was another fantastic dinner and then the finale
-we enjoyed a night show ‘Acrobatics Shanghai’. What a way to end the tour!
April 22: Shanghai – home, with incredible memories!
